What is a Gratitude Stone?

gratitude stonesA Gratitude Stone is a special stone you hold in your hand while expressing gratitude.

As I have written in my previous post, I am reading The Magic by Rhonda Byrne – it’s giving me many ideas for how to stay in a state of gratitude.

One of the recommendations is to use a gratitude stone, also called a Magic Rock.

How do you find your special Gratitude Stone?

You can look for your stone at a place you are fond of – maybe a special park, a trail you like, or even in your own back yard. Basically, just look for a stone that looks good and feels good to you. I told my daughter to go outside and find a special rock for me. She came back with an almost perfectly round, small speckled rock. She told me how she carefully picked it out for me. So my gratitude stone is special because my daughter hand picked it for me.

How do you use your Gratitude Stone?

I am using it as it is recommended in The Magic – basically, I hold it in my hand at night, right before bed. As I hold it, I think of all the things that happened that day that I am thankful for. I must pick one thing that happened during that day that made me the happiest – that I am the most grateful for. It can be something small or something big.

When you do this, you are forming a habit of showing gratitude instead of feeling ungrateful. Instead of thinking about how this or that went wrong or all of the things that are wrong in your life, you are forming the habit of thinking peaceful and happy thoughts!

The Law of Attraction and the Gratitude Stone

The Law of Attraction basically means that like attracts like. So if you are constantly thinking negative thoughts in life, then you will naturally attract more negative into your life. Oftentimes, we find ourselves thinking too many negative thoughts. You may think that you are not good enough or that you will never be happy again – these types of thoughts will just manifest more of those negative thoughts and situations.

The Gratitude Stone is a physical action step that you can take to form more positive thought patterns. Make it a bedtime ritual – before you go to sleep, hold the stone in your hand and think of what made you the happiest that day. Repeat this every single night and you’ll start to feel more thankful and have a more positive outlook on life.

Interesting. Reminds me of a prayer rock (only those hurt your head when you lay down on your pillow ;))
Something I’ve done recently is keep a gratitude journal. I’m not perfect, but the goal is to write in it every day about something I am grateful for. As I review past entries I am reminded of how much I have.

Yes, a gratitude journal is a good idea. I’ve never heard of a prayer rock :) It’s amazing how making the point to focus on what we do have changes our sense of well-being. Thanks for your comment, Peter.

Hmmmm. Gratitude stones aren’t new. People have been using/been aware of these/this for well, millenniums. You don’t have to take my word for it. Most Roman Catholics know this/have known this literally ages. Peace, Love, Joy, Faith, Gratitude to you all

I tell you this about them. They are way more powerful when given by another person out of love, and who happens to be in a physical/mental state of ‘Harmony’.
The best person to receive on off is, you mother. Be aware they have Spiritual power connected to them, hence how they ‘Attract’

    Hi,

I came to this site after looking into the artist Erik Brush. A serendipitous finding.
I have often walked with friends along one of my favorite sea paths, and as we ‘talk and walk’ discussions of people or events that have touched our hearts for which we are very grateful seem to be the normal and enriching course of conversation.

I seem to find heart-shaped rocks when we are together. My friends/clients seem to be rather surprised, as if I went out earlier and tossed heart-shaped rocks out on/in the sand ‘just for them’. It is so awesome, so interesting – so …almost like a gift from ..nature (?).

Let’s just say that people now give me heart-shaped jewelry! I am now called “The heart lady”. Also, I found a half of a heart stone. I had just told my best friend that my heart is now open to loving a man in my life, open to all the vulnerabilities and awesomeness that the experience will bring. I have never really completely opened my heart to anyone. I could feel that people loved having someone like me in their lives, they enjoyed my outer qualities/attractiveness – but no one really put forth the effort to dig deeper into my heart to really get to know me – thus I could not really connect with them, nor could I open my heart to really love them.

    Always grateful,
    Cheryle

    Tara,
You might want to look at a Nugget for the Noggin I posted on 2/16/17 in part referring to the gratitude stone and where I was and where I want and need to be. It is posted on my blog at http://www.NuggetsForTheNoggin.com. It refers to this page.

Hearing the word gratitude stone for the first time though, as surprising as it might be to me, it made me to further read the article the more. It’s enlightening though. I guess I will have to practice the actions of the gratitude stone.
